LuckyFM Ibaraki Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture) is inviting junior high and high school students residing in or attending school in Hitachinaka City (the event venue), Mito City (where the company is headquartered),Tsukuba City (satellite base).
■ Akira Ohtani, Mayor of Hitachinaka City (LuckyFes Venue)
I believe this initiative is highly meaningful, as it extends beyond Hitachinaka City to encompass a wider area including Mito City and Tsukuba City, allowing many young people to experience the appeal of music and festivals firsthand.
LuckyFes is a music festival that represents our prefecture and is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. It attracts many visitors from across the country and serves as a valuable opportunity not only to enjoy music but also to meet new people and experience the charm of the region. For junior high and high school students, the excitement and sense of unity at the venue—which is rarely experienced in daily life—will surely provide new inspiration and create wonderful memories.I hope you will all enjoy yourselves to the fullest while staying safe. Furthermore, I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to rediscover the charm and vitality of our local Ibaraki region, fostering a sense of attachment and pride in our community.
■ Mayor Yasushi Takahashi, Mito City (Headquarters of LuckyFM)
LuckyFes is a wonderful event featuring many of Japan’s leading artists, delivering inspiration and joy to countless people through music. As someone who visits the venue every year to experience the performances of these diverse artists and is deeply moved by them, I am truly delighted that this valuable opportunity is being offered to junior high and high school students in Mito City.
For the younger generation, music is an important part of culture that fosters self-expression and connections with peers. Through this initiative, I hope that young people will be exposed to diverse cultures and values, leading to new discoveries and inspiration.I also believe this will foster exchanges with junior high and high school students from Hitachinaka City and Tsukuba City, creating opportunities to deepen connections and bonds among students across regional boundaries.
I sincerely hope that all participating students will fully enjoy this valuable opportunity, gain many moving experiences and lessons, and use them to fuel their future growth.
■ Mayor Tatsuaki Igarashi of Tsukuba City (LuckyFM Satellite Hub)
Representative Hori and I have long shared a passionate desire to “do something together for the future of our region” and to “deliver authentic cultural experiences to the younger generation.”As mayor, I am truly delighted that these shared aspirations have now taken concrete form.
Music festivals have the power to stir and move people’s hearts. The excitement of a live performance, the sense of unity that fills the venue, and the powerful messages conveyed by the artists.I am convinced that such “authentic experiences” provide an irreplaceable opportunity for the children who will shape the future to discover their own passions and aspirations. Education is by no means confined to the classroom. The City of Tsukuba views the cultivation of rich sensibilities and creativity—not merely the acquisition of knowledge—as a key pillar of education.
We sincerely hope that this valuable experience will not merely be a one-day memory for junior high and high school students, but will serve as a major catalyst for them to step boldly into the future.

Yoshito Hori “I’ve long wanted to create summer vacation memories for junior high and high school students in Ibaraki,” I’ve always thought.
Even now, well past my 60th birthday, I still vividly remember my own junior high and high school days. Even if one were to have the same experience, the stimulation, enjoyment, impact, and vividness are different during those school years compared to later in life.I remember the first sunrise of the year at Oarai Beach, which I rode my bike to with friends during junior high. I also remember climbing Mt. Nantai in Daigo with friends during high school, and enjoying a live performance by a friend’s band on the roof of a department store. I vividly recall the cold, the crisp air, the exhaustion, and the excitement. However, unfortunately, during our junior high and high school days, there were no live music venues or large-scale festivals.
LuckyFes was launched in 2022 with the mindset of “We’ve got to do this!” following the relocation of one of Japan’s leading large-scale festivals.Since we were launching a major festival like LuckyFes at the wonderful National Hitachi Seaside Park, I wanted kids to come and enjoy themselves with their friends, family, and significant others. So, we made admission free for elementary school students and younger, and offered half-price tickets for junior and senior high school students.
Since this was so well-received, I decided to do something even bolder for our milestone 5th anniversary. Initially, I wanted to invite every middle and high school student in all of Ibaraki Prefecture for free, but since this was our first time, I couldn’t predict how many people would show up or how crowded the gates would get, so I decided to implement it on a limited basis.
Therefore, to commemorate our 5th anniversary, we decided to offer free admission exclusively to junior and senior high school students who attend school or reside in Hitachinaka City (where the venue is located), Mito City (where our headquarters are located), and Tsukuba City (where our studio is located). We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Ibaraki Prefectural Government, the mayors of these three cities, and all related parties for their understanding and cooperation.
We had originally planned to hold a press conference to convey our thoughts in person, but due to the approaching typhoon, we are instead sharing this message in writing as a comment in this press release. We hope that many junior high and high school students—our “friends” (audience)—will enjoy LuckyFes and create wonderful memories.
