A Message from Chief Producer Yoshito Hori
LuckyFes was launched in 2022 as an entirely new kind of festival, with the theme of ‘A Festival of Music, Food, and Art.
In its first year, despite only six months of preparation, the festival drew 20,000 attendees. The following year saw 40,000 attendees, and by its third year, the number grew to 60,000.
Now entering its fourth year, LuckyFes ’25 will be bigger than ever, co-hosted with BARKS, which celebrates its 25th anniversary. The festival will shift to the second week of August, aligning with the summer vacation season, a traditional period for rock festivals over the past two decades. After thorough evaluations, we found that concerns about temperatures, thunderstorms, and heatstroke show no significant difference between July and August. This adjustment will make the event even more family- and friend-friendly.
With the slogan “Spend Your Summer Break at Asia’s Largest Theme Park-Style Festival,” we will continue working tirelessly to create a safe and enjoyable experience for all our “friends.”
Looking back, on January 5, 2022, just two hours after the shocking announcement of the ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL relocating to Chiba, we unveiled LuckyFes with the rallying cry: “Don’t let the light of Ibaraki’s festival culture go out!” The cultural and emotional impact of losing one of Japan’s largest festivals hit Ibaraki residents hard, and the economic damage to the region was significant. Driven by a determination to inspire hope and keep spirits high, LuckyFes was born.
To create a festival for all generations, LuckyFes offers free admission to elementary school children and half-price tickets for middle and high school students. The festival features a crossover of diverse music genres—POPS, ROCK, HIP-HOP, anime songs, idols, and K-POP—while bringing together legendary artists loved across generations. Beyond music, we’ve focused on delicious festival food and art, creating an immersive, theme park-like atmosphere.
We are truly grateful to all the “friends” who have attended LuckyFes so far. It is thanks to your support that we’ve carried this torch forward to its fourth year.
Look forward to LuckyFes ’25—we’ll make it worth the wait!
See you at LuckyFes at Hitachi Seaside Park, August 9–11! (^^)/
