Message from the General Producer of LuckyFes, Yoshito Hori
LuckyFes, with the theme “A Festival of Music, Food, and Art,” was born in 2022 as a completely new kind of festival. In its inaugural year, with only six months of preparation, it attracted 20,000 attendees. The following year, the number grew to 42,000, and in its third year, it reached 60,000 attendees.
Now, for its fourth edition, LuckyFes’25 will be held with even more enhancements in the following three areas!
1)Enhanced for Easier Participation During Summer Vacation for Students and Families
The event will be moved to the second week of August, during the summer vacation period, which has been the traditional time for rock festivals for over 20 years. Concerns regarding temperature, thunderstorms, and heatstroke have been addressed, showing no significant difference between July and August. In line with the purpose of LuckyFes, which aims to provide enjoyment for multiple generations of attendees, the schedule has been adjusted to make it more accessible for students and families, while aiming for a larger-scale event.

2) Powering Up Music with Co-hosting by BARKS
Until now, the festival was organized solely by our company, a regional private broadcaster, but this year, we will co-host with BARKS, one of Japan’s largest music media outlets celebrating its 25th anniversary. This collaboration will strengthen the “music” aspect of the event with a nationwide scope. With BARKS’ involvement, we can leverage long-established relationships with artists to bring even more exciting bookings for LuckyFes’25. Through interviews and live reports, BARKS will use its media platform to showcase the charm of the artists to audiences across the country, further energizing the music scene.
3)Transforming into a Theme Park with the “Lucky Monster” Worldview
Last year, the creative director for art, the innovative artist KAIHO, made a significant impact, and this year, they will continue to lead the creative direction, further enhancing the theme. While the creative director has changed every year until now, this will be the first year of continuity. The theme park atmosphere of LuckyFes will center around the “Lucky Monster” and its unique characters, strengthening the theme. The popular “Lucky Monster” that appeared at LuckyFes’24 will bring even more new characters, solidifying the festival’s immersive theme park experience.
Looking back, on January 5, 2022, just two hours after the shocking announcement of ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL’s relocation to Chiba, we announced the launch of LuckyFes with the slogan ‘Don’t let the spirit of Ibaraki’s festival culture die!’ The impact on Ibaraki residents, both culturally and mentally, was immense when it was no longer going to be the venue for one of Japan’s largest festivals, and the economic damage to the region was also substantial. We didn’t want to disappoint the people of Ibaraki; we wanted to give them hope. That’s why we launched LuckyFes with that one goal in mind.
LuckyFes has been well-received as a festival that appeals to all generations by offering free admission for children under elementary school age and half-price tickets for junior and senior high school students. It brings together a wide variety of music genres, including POP, ROCK, HIPHOP, anime songs, idols, K-POP, and top artists from Asia, while also featuring legendary artists who appeal across generations. In addition, we’ve focused on food and art to create a theme park-like atmosphere.
With the slogan ‘Summer vacation, Asia’s largest theme park-style festival,’ we will continue preparing for LuckyFes’25 to ensure that many friends can enjoy the event in a safe and secure environment.
Let’s meet at LuckyFes at Hitachi Seaside Park from August 9–11. (^^)/”
