Night Tempo：80ʼs Japanese Popsをダンス・ミュージックに再構築したネット発の音楽ジャンル「フューチャー・ファンク」のシーンから登場した韓国人プロデューサー兼DJ。米国と日本を中心に活動する。
竹内まりやの「プラスティック・ラブ」をリエディットしてネット中心にバイラル・ヒット、昨今のシティポップ・ブームへと繋がった。角松敏生とダフト・パンクをこよなく敬愛する、昭和カセット・テープのコレクターでもある。昭和ポップスを現代にアップデートする『昭和グルーヴ』シリーズを2019年に始動。Winkを皮切りに、杏里、1986オメガトライブ、松原みき、秋元薫、菊池桃子、八神純子、小泉今日子、細川たかし、泰葉、早見優等これまでに19タイトルを発表。
2021年12月には初のメジャー・オリジナル・アルバム『Ladies In The City』をリリース。翌年7月にはフジロックフェスティバル‘22への出演を果たし、今年8月にはサマーソニック2023に初参戦。そして9月20日発売の2ndアルバム『Neo Standard』を引っ提げ、全国4都市を周る来日ツアー「The Night Tempo Show」を開催。80’s Japanese Popsの魅力を海外へ広めようとしている彼は、地上波TVでも数多く取り上げられ、今最も注目される海外アーティストの1人である。
FANCYLABO：Night Tempoが元Maison book girlの矢川葵と元AKB48/NMB48の市川美織を迎えたレトロ・ポップ・ユニット。80年代〜90年代の渋谷系やシティポップ、トレンディ・ドラマといったポップ・カルチャーから影響を受け、そのコンセプトは「お洒落研究所」。FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’22にて矢川と初お披露目し、同年8月のNight Tempoの来日公演にて正式にプロジェクトを発表。更には2023年2月の来日公演で、新たに市川が加入し、3人体制としてのFANCYLABOが本格的にスタート、4月に配信シングル「Flash Light」でデビュー。SUMMER SONIC 2023や全国4都市で開催されたNight Tempoの来日ツアー全公演にも出演を果たしている。最新作は2024年3月にリリースした4thシングル「Kira Kira」。

Night Tempo:
South Korean artist Night Tempo turns the past into party-starting numbers for now. His dance project draws from ‘80s funk and disco, particularly the shimmering sounds of Japanese pop. He’s part curator, plucking tunes from artists he grew up loving and sharing these crystalline cuts to a 21st century crowd eager to be swept up in the sounds of yesteryear. He draws from these songs to make original numbers to create thumping floor fillers.

Launched in 2015, Night Tempo has gone from creating bootleg remixes of hits by the likes of Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi to YouTube success, to officially working with ‘80s pop superstars such as Wink, Anri, Miki Matsubara and more as part of his Night Tempo Presents The Showa Groove series. He also creates original tunes drawing inspiration from this period of music and launches a retro-pop project, FANCYLABO with Aoi Yagawa (ex. Maison book girl) and Miori Ichikawa (ex. AKB48/NMB48).

Night Tempo has also started bringing his energetic live show to bigger stages, having played at venues across Asia, North America and more. He also appeared at Fuji Rock Festival in 2019 and 2022 and Summer Sonic 2023, the 2 largest and most celebrated music festivals in Japan, where he started a late night rave-up to the sound of Japanese city pop. As the world slowly opens back up, he has his sights focused on bringing his retro-tinged party to listeners looking to let loose.
