Message from Executive Producer Yoshito Hori
On January 5, 2022, two hours after the shocking announcement of the relocation of the ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL to Chiba, we announced that we would hold our own festival with the slogan “Don’t turn off the lights on Ibaraki’s festival culture!”
The cultural and spiritual impact on the people of Ibaraki Prefecture that the prefecture would no longer be the venue for one of the largest festivals in Japan was significant, with the damage to the local economy being enormous as well. I do not want to disappoint the people of Ibaraki but want them to have hope. With this in mind, LuckyFes’22, when held for the first time, was attended by about 20,000 Friends (visitors) over two days, and LuckyFes’23, the second year, was extended by one day with about 42,000 Friends visited over three days, more than doubling the number of Friends.
In 2024, the third year of the festival, we aim to be the “largest theme park-type festival in Asia” and be even more powerful than last year! From Saturday, July 13 through Monday, July 15, the event will be expanded to the great plain area with four stages over three days, with the aim of attracting 120,000 participants. We plan to include a variety of genres of music so that people of all generations can enjoy it more than ever before. We are also thinking of creating theme park-like elements that let you make fun discoveries all over the venue as if you were looking into a “toy box.”
Reflecting the opinions and requests of our Friends, we are preparing to make the festival enjoyable for as many people as possible. We look forward to seeing you at LuckyFes.
LuckyFes’24 also aims to be “Asia’s largest multi-generational theme park-type crossover festival” linked to the media, so I hope all friends can enjoy it freely.
Let us meet at LuckyFes at Hitachi Seaside Park on July 13–15. (^^)/
