To all LuckyFes Friends,

LuckyFes’25 came to a close with 600 fireworks lighting up the night sky.

Driven by the desire to “keep the spirit of music festivals alive in Ibaraki,” LuckyFes began three and a half years ago with zero experience and the motto: “Yarukkya nēbeyo (We just gotta do it)!”
Now, three and a half years later, the festival has evolved into a large-scale event featuring 108 artists across four stages over three days, and welcoming more than 80,000 friends.

The fourth edition of LuckyFes, held under the theme “The Biggest Theme Park-Style Festival in Asia for Summer Break,” was a huge success thanks to the incredible artists, friends, and dedicated staff.

On the night before the festival began, we faced severe challenges—a torrential downpour damaged equipment, blew away tents, and flooded the parking lots. However, thanks to the all-night restoration efforts of our team, we were able to welcome our friends as planned.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated and supported us. Thank you so much.

Finally, I’d like to take a moment to share some personal reflections on what this year’s theme—”The Biggest Theme Park-Style Festival in Asia for Summer Break”—meant to me.

1) Summer Vacation:

By shifting the festival dates from Marine Day in July to the three-day weekend of Mountain Day in August, we saw a remarkable increase in the number of children participating. Over 6,000 kids joined us, creating a peaceful and joyful atmosphere throughout the venue.

Despite initial concerns about the heat, the temperature never exceeded 30°C. The ocean breeze gently cooled the air, allowing everyone to enjoy world-class music on the grassy fields while relaxing in the shade. Occasionally, we were blessed with light showers—what I like to call “nature’s mist” (haha)—making it the perfect weather for a summer festival. Thanks to this, we had almost zero cases of heatstroke at the shaded medical tents. The most common issue? Blisters from new shoes.

2) Asia’s Largest:

Starting from 20,000 attendees in our first year, we’ve grown to 40,000, then 60,000, and now, in our fourth year, over 80,000 friends joined us. If this pace continues, we expect to welcome over 100,000 attendees for our 5th anniversary next year. Ultimately, we hope to become a truly massive festival welcoming over 300,000 friends from around the world.

Why aim to grow so big? Because we want LuckyFes to become a festival chosen by top artists around the globe. As we steadily evolve, more and more top-tier artists will want to perform at LuckyFes. That’s why we ask all of our friends to share their unforgettable memories with others—because that ripple effect will attract even more world-class performers to our stage (though to be honest, we already have Japan’s very best).

3) Theme Park-Style Festival:

The theme park-style festival we aspire to create is one where everyone can feel included and happy—regardless of age or background. It’s a space where just being present brings joy. Not only music, but food and art are also central parts of this experience.

The “food” was represented by gourmet offerings from famous restaurants at LuckyDining. The “art” was embodied by the giant Lucky Monster balloons, vibrant decorations, and even walking mascot art installations. Many friends enjoyed the “LakiMon Catch” game too.

In addition, the venue featured photo spots scattered throughout the park, playgrounds for children, a festival-style fair at Lucky Plaza, and areas where you could play basketball or soccer with the Antlers, HollyHock, and Robots teams. Beside the lake stood the “Lucky Shrine,” open only during the LuckyFes period, where guests could write wishes on Tanzaku (prayer cards). I truly believe that those who paid their respects there will receive a little bit of good fortune. According to the shrine priest, a shrine that exists for such a short time is quite rare.

Just as the “Kingdom of Dreams” has Mickey Mouse, the “Kingdom of Luck” has LakiMon. In this magical world, staff and friends greet one another with an “L”-shaped hand sign and cheerful chants of “LuckyFes!” or “Lucky!” This is the very essence of the theme park-style festival we’re striving to create. We’ll continue working hard to build a space where every friend can feel lucky and happy.

On the Other Hand—Our Pledge to Improve

While we are truly grateful for the overwhelming support, we’ve also noticed several areas for improvement based on feedback from social media and other sources. To evolve even further, we are committing to the following improvements:

  1. Enhanced Visibility for RAINBOW and WING Stages We will equip both the RAINBOW and WING stages with double-sided LED screens (VISION), ensuring clear visibility from every angle and distance.
  2. More Food and Drink Locations We plan to increase the number of food stalls and drink stations by 30% to 50%, with the goal of minimizing wait times and long queues.
  3. Improved Front Area Experience via the App We will improve the usability of our app for accessing the front areas, clarify operational guidelines and regulations, and reduce stress for our friends (attendees).

Additionally, we’ve received reports about signal issues and restroom queues depending on the time of day. These problems will also be addressed thoroughly and resolved in future editions.

To help us improve, we would deeply appreciate your cooperation in filling out a short survey (thank you to those who have already responded!):

Looking Ahead to an Even Better Next Year

By listening to the voices of all our Friends, we’re determined to continue improving and make LuckyFes truly become “Asia’s Biggest Theme Park-Style Festival of the Summer Holidays.”

Personally, I spent the entire three days filled with happiness—it was an absolute blast. I’m truly glad I took the leap with a “Let’s just do it!” spirit when we first began. And LuckyFes will evolve even further next year.

We plan to announce the dates for next year’s LuckyFes sometime after October. Until then, we hope you enjoy the archived footage on ABEMA. I myself am planning to watch as many artist performances as I possibly can.
